The Charly's Angelz concept is to promote female DJing talent. Residents Sophie Sugar, Vicky Devine and Kate E-B are joined every week by two top headlining female DJs, such as Lisa Pin-Up, Anne Savage and DJ Heaven. But with an all girl line-up and lap dancers upstairs, is Charly's Angelz going to attract too many lads ? "The night is just as much aimed at the girls as it is the boys," claimed resident and co promoter Sophie Sugar. "Last year we sold it more on a sexy theme to gain attention," added Vicky Devine. "This year we've cut a lot of the stuff the girls may deem as tacky and gone more girly. It's not about girl power or anything like that, it's just about having a girly night out, we want the girls to come and get dressed up." They've also addressed changes in the music policy after being labelled as a hard house night. "It just so happened some of the big female DJs play hard house," said Vicky. "This year we've made sure if we have a hard house DJ on, we'll compliment that with someone who has a more funky style." As well as their night at Summum, Charly's Angelz also take over Play 2 on Fridays, with a night called The Angelz West End Showcase, before island-hopping over to Majorca on Mondays for a night at Magaluf based Club Bananas. Vicky and Sophie also have a track coming out on Dutch label F-Active Music titled 'Fearing Nothing". // Back to Press Index |
